The Switcheroo of Chairman Mao on the Tiananmen wall

With the national holiday lurking right around the corner, several events and activities are set to be displayed, one of the events is the annual replacement of the well-known portrait of Chairman Mao on Tiananmen.
This feat took place on September 27th at 23:00 using a truck and two cranes.

The workers unloaded the painting off the truck, and then replaced it using the cranes.

The entire process took slightly over an hour to complete at five past midnight on September 28th
It is told that due to the harsh winds and weather the painting would undergone during the year, the old painting would then be taken down to be remodeled and painted for the coming year.

The portrait measured at 6 meters by 4.6 meters, together with the frame weighs up to 1.5 metric ton is known to be the biggest handcrafted portrait painting of a leader in Asia today.
